Sisters and Outlaws

Last week I showed you a different color interpretation of Delectable Mountains, one of my favorite patterns. This was the basis for my quilt "Ups and Downs".

To illustrate the same point, I'd like to share another quilt with you, "Sisters and Outlaws".  (I have 3 sisters and 7 sisters-in-law, who call themselves the Outlaws). The main block, with the half-square triangles, is Sister's Choice. These turned out a little dark, so I added the  Album block in somewhat lighter colors to liven it up a little.

Here is a close-up of one of the corners:

Debbie Sanford quilted this with an all-over Baptist Fan,  a traditional pattern that goes well with the squares and points in the blocks.

And this is what happens when you take the same blocks and go "modern".

I hope this inspires you to look at the components of a block and see all the possibilities.

So, give it a try. Think outside your usual color selection box!

I'd love to hear about your color choices -  tell me about them in the comment box below!
